SUMMER HIKING
The 2024 OTHG hiking season has ended. Check the Activity Calendar for information on the 2025 summer hiking season.

As in the past, we will be starting out slowly and hikes will increase in length and difficulty as the summer progresses. If you feel you do not want to do an entire hike you may turn around at any time --just make sure you have a ride to get you back to your car and let fellow hikers know that you are turning around so that we don’t hunt for you. Also, some hikes have turn around points built into them but again make sure you have a ride back. Lastly, Steamboat is at about 7,000 ft above sea level. All hikes go higher than this so be aware of your health conditions before you attempt a hike and be sure to have plenty of water with you. We want you to have fun!!!

There will be no weekly reminder for hikes or emails so please save this and remember to check the web site calendar the evening before the hike for possible changes ( www.ssothg.org/events ). The meeting place will be River Creek Park, Walton Creek Road and U.S. Highway 40. Please be there ten minutes before a hike starts to arrange carpools and finalize the destination. We do leave promptly. The listed hikes below are suggestions only. Sometimes the group decides to do something different from what is scheduled so be prepared to be flexible. There are no designated leaders but someone usually steps up and offers to act as leader. Full hike descriptions can be found in Hiking the Boat II by Diane White-Crane.
